How to calculate your WASSCE aggregate score
Your WASSCE aggregate score is a crucial factor that determines your eligibility for university programs in Ghana. Here's everything you need to know about calculating it:
What is the WASSCE Aggregate Score?
The WASSCE aggregate score is calculated using your best 6 subjects, which must include:
- Three (3) Core Subjects:
- Core Mathematics
- English Language
- Integrated Science or Social Studies
- Three (3) Relevant Elective Subjects
Grade Points System
Each grade corresponds to a specific number of points:
A1
1 point
B2
2 points
B3
3 points
C4
4 points
C5
5 points
C6
6 points
D7
7 points
E8
8 points
F9

Important Notes
- Lower aggregate scores are better (e.g., 12 is better than 15)
- Most university programs require specific elective subjects
- For degree programs, you typically need at least C6 in all core subjects
- Some programs have additional subject requirements
Example Calculation
Let's say you got these grades:
- Core Mathematics: B3 (3 points)
- English Language: B2 (2 points)
- Integrated Science: C4 (4 points)
- Biology: A1 (1 point)
- Chemistry: B2 (2 points)
- Physics: B3 (3 points)
Your aggregate score would be: 3 + 2 + 4 + 1 + 2 + 3 = 15
